word 2002 automatically creates a short cut

whenever i save a document out of word 2002 it
automatically creates a shortcut on my c: .

Is there a way to stop this feature?

I've never seen anything like this in any version of Word.
My first guess would be that you have some kind of Addin
doing this...

1. Is this a true shortcut? Or are you actually referring
to "temp" files (file name starts with a ~ or ends in tmp)?

2. If you hold down the Ctrl key, then start up Word, does
the problem still occur? (Note: Word is starting in "Safe
Mode", so may look a bit odd.)
