I went out to the MS site and downloaded a fax cover
sheet template. upon getting back into Word the window
was about a quarter of the way down the monitor. When I
click the restore button, it will restoer to whatever
size I had before, but the maximize will not open the
window to the full size. It will be about a quarter donw
the monitor. Any ideas?

You might try recreating the Word\Data\Settings key in the Registry
since it stores the position/size of the application window.

Exit Word and in the Registry drill down to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<Version>.0\Word\Data

And rename or delete the Setting value on the right. Word will
recreate this key using the defaults the next time you start Word.

As always, prior to making any changes to the Registry you should
review "Backing up the Registry" and "Restoring the Registry" in the
Registry Help.

In this situation you may want to use the Registry/Export Registry
file command, export your selected branch, and delete the key. That
way if you find the change wasn't necessary or incorrect, you can
merge the deleted branch back to the Registry by double-clicking the
resulting file.

You could try this, I'm not sure. But open the propertiese of the Word
executable from the start menu or where-ever you have it. "Right click",
"Properties", on the shortcut Tab, choose in the "run" box how you would
like Word to open. Apply and OK, see if it works.

Hope that works
