Any idea how to change the colour of the cursor in Word -
ideally to red rather than black.  This will make it more
visible for a friend who has difficulty finding it on the
page.

Thanks so much

As Andre has said, there's no way to change the cursor color, but a good way
to make it (and everything else) more visible is to increase the default
zoom ratio. For example, if I choose Page Width in Normal view on my system,
I get a zoom of 166%. Your friend would find that 125% or 150% will help
without completely using up the space needed for the task pane (if that's an
issue). See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm

Not that I know of, however, there are other options for improving the
visual appearance of the cursor bar withing Windows. Try this, Open the
Control Panel (Start menu), open the "Mouse" panel, select the "Pointers"
tab, click the "Scheme" box to select a large large scheme that can be
easily seen on screen. I like "Windows Inverted (large)" best.

Hope this helps in someway.

If you choose the Blue Background, White Text option under
Tools>Options>General, it will be Yellow.
