Our documents have the front matter numbered in Roman,
then the body in Arabic starting at 1. Is there a formula
for the total number of pages to rest at 1, so the last
page reads page 16 of 16?  Using the total number of
pages field gives me 16 of 20.

Don,

Assuming you have a two secion document use {Page} of {SectionPages} vice
{Page} of {NumPages}.

CTRL+a and ALT+F9 to display your field codes, make the changes, rigtht
click and update field.

Thanks, Greg...

That's a start in the right direction, but what if there
are many sections?  Typically the body of the doc begins
with section 3, but that's not the real issue; becasue of
landscape pages in the dox there may be many sections
following.

If all the pages from 1 to 16 are in a single section, use the SectionPages
field instead of NumPages.
