Andre, that is *not* an answer to the question that was asked. "uncle" is
already aware of the existing Border Art and wants to add to it.

Actually, Suzanne, there is a way to add custom borders to word
document, but I know that you are reluctant to learn anything new and
different. *You need to learn to think outside the box!*

Suzanne answered the question that was asked. Andre on the other hand is in
a little world of his own. If you want to tell us how to add border art to
the existing list, rather than add border art to a word document which
Suzanne and the rest of us can do, we would love to hear from you.

If there is a way, why don't you tell me about it?

There are many ways to add custom borders to Word documents, and I have
described some of them in other threads if not in this one. There is,
however, no way to create custom Border Art to add to the list in the Page
Border dialog.

If the rest of you already knew how, why didn't you give "uncle" th
answer he was looking for? No you can not manipulate the page border
that come with Word. Nor can you add to them (as far as I know). Yo
can, however, add border art to get the same effect (with a little mor
effort). You knew this and didn't bother to give that knowledge t
"uncle". Instead he got something like, -"There are many ways to ad
custom borders to Word documents, and I have described some of them i
other threads if not in this one"- That was close to being helpfu
Suzanne, but could you describe it one more time for "uncle"? If yo
give only an answer to the question as asked, and do not address th
intent of the question, then you are not helping the questioner t
learn.
Uncle, the way that I have done this in the past is to create my pag
border in a graphics editor like Adobe's Photoshop or Jasc's Paintsho
Pro. Then you insert it to your document (each page separately). Setu
a table to input your text to. Make sure the text you input is set t
show above your graphic. You may have to manipulate the page margin
and paper size to make sure it prints like you want. When you are don
you can save your work as a template so you can use it in the future
By doing it this way, you are not constrained by the limitations o
Words "Border Art" (I'll let Suzanne and Graham give you tha
information about "Border Art"...since they can do that...if the
want). There may be a better/easier way (probably is) to do this, but
like I said, I have done it this way in the past and it worked for me.
Sorry for the delay in answering, but I'm having to do this whil
working with students. TGI

What I have said in the past is along these lines:
1. If you have a graphic that is already a frame/border (the clip art that
comes with Office includes many such), then you can insert it in the page
header (so that it is behind the text and repeats on every page). You may
need to resize it to fit the page, and in Word 2000 and above you'll need to
change the wrapping from "In Line with Text" to "Behind Text" in order to
place it properly.
2. If you want to construct a border/frame manually from a piece of clip
art, you will again need to start with View | Header and Footer so that you
are in the header pane. Draw a rectangular AutoShape to serve as a guideline
(or, better still, you could temporarily insert a lightweight line Page
Border). Then insert your clip art and duplicate it as many times as needed
to go around the rectangle (which you can delete after you have all the clip
art arranged). Group all the art objects and save the resulting border as an
AutoText entry for reuse. Since you've inserted it in the header, it will be
listed on the AutoText menu on the Header and Footer toolbar.

That's one of the things I like about Microsoft Office. There are s
many different ways to do the same thing.
Thank you Suzanne
