Getting out of fullscreen mode

I went to full screan mode and everything was fine.
Getting out of full screan mode, the writing area moved
way to the right and when I maximize the window, the
writeable area is not in the window.  What is going on?

If you right click the Windows taskbar at the foot of the screen and select
'cascade windows' does it return?

Hmmmm. If Beth's suggestion doesn't help, send *to my e-mail address* a
screen dump of the offending window (Press PRTSCREEN and paste the result
into Word - landscape mode - then send the document, preferably zipped.

Me too - I had a mail from the guy this morning, without the screen dump. I
explained this in more detail, so we should have more info later.

You're right - I don't believe it. I now see what Jim is describing
but I can't seem to figure out how it happened.

Can you clue me in? ;-)

You've piqued my curiosity as well, and I haven't even seen the screen
shots!

I'll send them - cos I have no idea what caused this. I have had a call from
the user to say that Winword /A fixes it.

Ah! Okay, I *really* thought I was missing something. :-)

I suspect it's due to corruption in the Data key (Settings value)
then. It stores the position of the window and such so that would be
my first guess.

The entire Normal view document window was pushed to the right, ruler
and all. It started just below the Zoom drop down so about 1/4 of the
document window is visible.

(It looks a little like the 'wonky' Tools/Options Edit/Track Changes
bug)

At first I thought it was a restored MDI document window moved to the
right and the title bar hiding below the toolbar but the window border
is not visible and the edge is sunken. It looks like the menu bar,
which is docked to the left, is filling the space but you can not
manually resize a docked menu bar so that isn't it.

Strange!

Hi Jim,

Try using the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom and scroll as far as
you can to the right and then back to the left again.

Beth,

I tried scrolling to the right and then to the left and
the problem is still there.  one thing I hadn't mention
is my menu bar is vertical on the left side.  After going
to fullscreen mode and coming out of full screen mode the
window has the menu bar on the left as I began with but
the window is the color of the menu bar background.  this
happened once before and I don't remember how I fixed it.

Hi Jim,

See if going to View/Document Map corrects the problem. :-)

Beth,
View/Document Map did not help.  I have the it has to do
with the  menu bar being vertical on the left side of the
screen, but so far nothing.  Another peculiar thing when
opening Word, the window is wider thsa the terminal
screen.
