When I try to use the mouse pointer to place the cursor at
the end of a line of text in Word, it instead selects the
entire line of text. This problem seems to be related to
the following observation:
When using Word, if I keep the mouse pointer very close to
the end of a line of text it remains an "I"-shaped text
selection tool. But as soon as I move the mouse pointer
more than about half of a centimeter to the right of the
end of a line of text, it turns into an arrow-shaped
normal select tool. It is when the mouse pointer switches
over to a normal select tool that I have the problem
mentioned above.
This is killing me because every time I try to add
information to the end of a line of text I end up over-
writing the entire line and losing information. I tried
changing settings using the options button, but no luck.
Usually I am pretty good at customizing Word settings, but
this problem has me stumped. Any help would be much
appreciated.

Steve,
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I already turned
off the Click and Type option and it did not solve my
problem. Any further suggestions would be much appreciated.

Dwayne,
Very vague recollection that someone with a similar problem might have fixed
it through the language settings--there was some kind of right-to-left
language operating, so the right margin was acting like the left, where what
you describe is desired behavior. So if no one has any better suggestions,
perhaps check all the language settings in both Word and Windows.
