I have Word installed with French, but I need to change
the menus to English.  Changing the general language only
changes what language I type in.  Changing the region in
the control panel also doesn't help.

Any ideas?

Hi Rich,

Can't be done. You have to get the English version of the software... Like
any other major software, the UI is always language specific. It may sounds
like it would be an easy thing to do, flick a switch and all the interface
is in another language... trust me, it is not that simple!

This can be done, however, if you have the Multi-Language Pack.
