I have Word 2000. When I start up Word, a new document
appears, but NO MENU BAR OR TOOL BAR appear.
Shortcuts on the keyboard are working. Everything else
is on the screen apart from the Menu and Tool bars.
Previously saved documents are also displaying the same
symptoms even though they were fine previously.
I have uninstalled Office 2000 twice and re-installed it
again, with no joy. Am now desperate. All other
programmes in Office appear to be running normally.
Hope someone can help me.

I have the same problem. I also have Word 2000. It came
on my Dell Inspiron 4000, which I bought in early '91.
It has always worked fine, until about two weeks ago,
when all the toolbars vanished. I had to go into the
macro menu to create a custom tool bar. Now that I have
that, all I see when I right click the toolbar area is
Autotext, Clipboard, Custom 1. When I go to Customize
and click the Toolbars tab, all I see is the above plus
Shortcut Menus. It's like the system has lost the code
for these tools. I have twice tried reloading Word 2000
from my source disk, and nothing changed. I too am
desperate. Can someone out there help us?

Hi Stephen,
When using these newsgroups, it is useful to look at the answers to previous
posts before jumping in with a "me too." If you are having difficulty doing
that you may want to look at http://www.gmayor.com/MSNews.htm for tips.
Suzanne Barnhill has twice answered this question by recommending that a
person with this problem look at the solutions set forth in:
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm
BTW: ALL CAPS IS ANNOYING and translates in netspeak as shouting. Please
avoid.
