How do I use the auto date button on toolbar to insert the
date, and yet it not update?, so that when I go back to a
document days/months later, it currently puts todays date
in it, rather than the original date?
How do I get a toolbar short cut for the date, without it
auto updating?
I have NOT got the auto update checked in the date box,
where you first set your defaults on layout etc
Thanks

Instead of inserting the date from that source, select Fields from the
Insert menu and then insert a CREATEDATE field.

Once you create a CreateDate field formatted the way you want it, you can
select it and save it as an AutoText entry. You can give that AT entry a
keyboard shortcut (such as Alt-D) using the Customize dialog box.
