Using XP pro and Word 2002.

On the bottom is a bar with page no, sec #, line# and the dictionary
that flips its pages even after I've turned off automatic spell and
grammar check.

I've turned off all animation in the system and in Word - the the
dictionary still flips and the line and column numbers keep changing.

I find this very distracting.  How can I prevent this toolbar from being
seen at all?

TIA

Louise

In Tools > Options > View, uncheck the "Status bar" box.

thanks so much - I looked for that for 20 minutes and never thought it
might be called the staus bar, although I must admit it is a reasonable
thing to call it :-)
