Word Macro problem

I created a simple macro in a document that was applied
to the normal template as well as associated with the
document itself.  It is invoked by selecting CTRL-T.  It
works fine on my local machine but when sent out to
others, it does not work.  I set security at Medium which
I thought would bring up the pop up window asking if the
user wants to enable the macro but it's not even doing
that.  I tried all security settings, adding a digital
signature, etc and it still does not invoke on the user's
end.  Appreciate all input.

It sounds as though you have saved the macro in a template that is only
available on the local machine - and not in the document.
Your local macro security settings have no bearing on what the remote user
has set. Most users with any sense will disable macros from documents they
have not created themselves.

Hi Beaver

When you say "applied to the normal template as well as associated
with the document itself", exactly what steps did you use to do that?

My suspicion is that the macro is *stored* in the template, as it
should be, and that when you send the document you're leaving the
macro behind. It is possible, but not really recommended, to store the
macro in the document. That's when you would get the warning popup.

Similarly, you will have to store the shortcut specifically in the
document, not in the template.

Thanks for the feedback.

Steps:
1. Tools/Macro/Record New Macro
2. Name macro
3. Assign macro to keyboard (assigned CTRL-T)
4. Store in Normal.dot template (wanted as global macro
for use in other documents as well)
5. Record Macro
6. Used Organizer to apply macro from normal.dot template
  to actual document

In short, I need to apply this macro and have it be
functional when I send out to others.  What is the
best/easiest way for me to do that.

Thanks for your help!

The steps you listed should work. The only thing they won't do is copy
the keyboard shortcut from the template to the document. You'll have
to make that assignment separately in the Customize > Keyboard dialog,
selecting the document in the "Save in" box.

I don't know why the macro wouldn't trigger the security warning on
the other machine, assuming you set the security level there to
Medium. (The setting on your machine has nothing to do with it.)

Thanks for the help.  I can't believe all of the
machinations one has to go through to associate a macro
to a document.  I got it to work on one document so I'll
try another.  Thanks again.
