There are these invisible characters that show up when I
am typing to signify when I have started a new paragraph
(paragraph sign), a space (a dot), a tab (an arrow).  They
are not on the print preview only on the screen when I
type.  They are driving me crazy.  How do I get rid of
these indicators??!!!

Usually CTRL+SHIFT+* will toggle non-printing characters off the screen.
