computer running real slow with word running

When I run Word 2002 xp my program is running real slow.
Someone said word is using all my ram memory up. not sure
if i need an update to fix this problem? I have 256K ram

Are there multiple programs running? Your Antivirus program could also be
causing problems, disable any plugins in your Antivirus program.

Try looking in Tools, Options, File Locations. Sometimes
if Word is looking for a particular directory or file
location that has moved or deleted it takes a long time
since it looks there first.
