Millinium Edition, with factory installed word 2000
after using the recovery console and reinstalling word
2000,the office assistant went missing. When I tried to
re-install it, half way through it stopped to tell me
that it could not find DAT1.MSI. No searches have located
this file for me. Can any one help please

In Word Help, when you type a question or request a
search, it gets you the same result as the Annoying
Office Assistant anyway.

thanks for your help, but its not so much the questions
that I need answering. I just enjoyed haveing the little
dog bouncing about. You can see I don't use my computer
for any serious use.

Okay, George, let's see if we can figure this out.  What
were you reinstalling?  Your Windows image or just Office
2000?  Did your computer manufacturer include an Office
2000 CD?

Thanks for your interest.
Word 2000 was included and installed by the manufactures
P.Bell i.e. no disk supplied. With the four disks that
were supplied I had to do a re-install of the operating
system C:\window . This was needed as an activated
partition image had failed to allow a normal bootup. At
this point the office assistant failed to appear.  'Smart
restore' allows word 2000 to be added or removed in
conjuction with the supplied disks, which I used, still
no joy, hence the query

By the way, George, did you click on Help and then choose
Show the Office Assistant?
