MS Office Forum / Word / Menus and Toolbars / May 2004Phantom user
I use Office 97 on Win XP Home. When I launch a Word file, I get a message: "C:\...\...\File.doc is being used by Joe Bloggs. Do you want to make a copy?" I simply press "Cancel" and everything works fine. This can happen even immediately after startup, when I have been the only user.
