I suspect this might be a minor registry corruption associated with the
missing menus phenomenon - see

Graham...your a star by typing in winword.exe /a on the run command it fixed
my problem straight away.

Hmm...spoke to soon. As soon as I ran that command Word immediatly opened a
window that filled my screen but when i closed word down and reopened
it...the same problem. I'll read more on that site you recommended.
