My system has just been upgraded from NT4 to Windows XP
Professional.

My autotext (Normal.dot) from my old system was saved
(years of short cuts, standards, addresses etc etc), but
we are experiencing problems transferring it and placing
it onto Windows XP Prof (over Normal.FMT).

Can you give us advice on how to replace the new with the
old?

Normal.DOT should be located in the folder configured in Word > tools >
options > file locations > user templates. The exact location of this folder
will depend on how your network has been set up. Identify the folder, close
Word and copy your customised version of normal.dot into that folder.
Restart Word and it should be active.

Normal.FMT is another file entirely.
