Does anyone know how to turn off shortcut keys in Word?
It is an annoying feature that I'd like to diable if I
hit an embedded shortcut combination by accident.
Another case of putting too many bells and whistles in
application that many of us will never use.
Thanks for any help.

Bill,
I don't think there is an On/Off switch, but you could use
View>Toolbars>Customize>Keyboard and scroll through the
various commands to remove the ones you might not want.

Thanks Greg. A bit tedious, but it accomplished what I
wanted to do, which is to not have Word go off in some
direction or begin a table or some other process when I'm
deep into writing an article and hit the wrong keys.
Again, thanks!

Just a comment--not that Word doesn't add useless "bells and whistles", but
shortcut keys are NOT one of them. In fact, shortcut keys and the ability
to edit them are one of the best features in Word, and should be in every
computer program. Shortcut keys can be far faster than using the mouse.
I'll admit that the ability to disable all shortcut keys across the board
could be handy, though it would *certainly* be considered a "bell and
whistle" and I'd bet money that most people would never use it, as more and
more people learn to type properly from a young age.
