I opened Word the other day and found there were no
toolbars, taskbars, or anything else at the top of the
page.  I right click the mouse at the top of the page
and 'restore' does not light up as an option.  I have
reinstalled Office 2000 and that doesn't work either.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  I can print with a
short cut key, but that is about all.

See http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm. There is a
range of possible problems and related solutions. You'll find them all
there, I think.

Suzanne: this WORKED FOR ME! Great. I had to fix the
registry key. My question is this: how would the registry
key be corrupted in the first place? Is the answer "a
hundred possibilities", or is it one specific item that I
can try to avoid doing in the future?

This is a common problem with a cause that has not been identified. Now you
have it fixed and have restored your personalisations that it contains,
backup the registry key to a file, so you can reintroduce it if it goes
again.

Microsoft would love to know the answer to that. So far as I know, no
specific cause has been identified, but the problem, though not unknown in
other versions, seems especially prevalent in Word 2000.

The same thing happened to me.
I thought I deleted something by mistake, because it just
happened from one day to another.
If you find out, post a message.
