Bug: White Text on Blue Background

Hi, all.

I believe my friend and I may have discovered a bug in
Office XP professional.

In the options panel, the user may select to view
documents as white text on a blue background.  A friend of
mine ran into a problem where one of the following happens:

1. Word makes white text the default foreground color.  If
this happens, nothing he prints shows up on paper, because
Word does not convert the white text to black text before
piping data to the printer.  White text on white paper is
pretty much worthless.

2. If he selects black text as default (Format > Font >
Color = Black, click on "Default..." button) Then Word
prints correctly, but the black text on dark blue
background is unreadable.

Clearly, a miscommunication between Microsoft developers
regarding the "white text on blue background" and "default
font color" options has occurred.

My friend uses the latest version of Office XP
professional purchased from a reputable vendor.  I
installed the software for him straight from the package
and updated it with the latest service packs and patches.

Anyone know why this may be happening?  More importantly,
does anyone know how to use the blue background feature
and still print black text?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

If the font colour is set to automatic, it should still print black.

G'day "Daniel Barnes" <danielba@usc.edu>,

why? MS took only the most cursory approach to making old WP users
feel at home.

"Daniel Barnes" <danielba@usc.edu> was spinning this yarn:
