MS Office Forum / Word / Menus and Toolbars / May 2004Word 2003 Toolbars disappearing
This happens frequently. I read through this... See http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.ht m and I deleted the registry key as suggested. The custom toolbars were then recreated, worked for a few hours, then disappeared again. This also happens in other programs like Frontpage and PowerPoint. I use Word more often so destroying my custom toolbars is very annoying. Any ideas? Custom toolbars are stored in Normal.dot - it's the standard toolbars that are in the registry. Sounds like you have a corrupt normal.dot.
