Word, Status Bar

When deleting anything in Word, there is a prompt on the
Status Bar to confirm the deletion.  Is there a way to
turn off that prompt?

Yes, there is.

Go to Tools, Options, select the General Tab,, and ensure that "Help for
WordPerfect users" and "Navigation keys for Wordperfect users" are both
unchecked.
