Hello,
I use Word for hours on end. Not a lot of formatting,
pretty much just pages and pages of double spaced Courier.
The black on white display kills me after a while, so I
usually use the white text, blue background option.
I downloaded and tried OpenOffice.org and I just don't like
Writer as much as I like Word. The UI sucks, it's buggy
(auto-save prompts you, and other small annoyances) and I'd
rather just stick to Word. However, in OpenOffice.org, I
was able to change to a green font, black background. Much
better on my eyes, and now I do not want to go back.
Is there any way I can get Word to do the same? I set the
page background to black, set the font to green, but when I
go to print the font comes out in some awful halftone. I
don't see any option in my printer setup to make it just
substitute black for the color.
Thanks,
Dave

Have you tried going into the Windows display options and
changing the settings for "Window" and "Window text"? I
almost always choose an off-white or eggshell color for
Windows, instead of "killer white".

You can get the blue screen, white text from DOS as a Word option.
Otherwise you need to change the display settings in Windows (for all of
your programs). I use a robin's-egg blue background because it is easier on
my eyes than is white.

Yes, I've done those before. Unfortunately I am so fussy
I just want the color change in Word when I am working on
a document.
Oh well. I was hoping there was a configuration file
somewhere I could mess with to change the colors in
the "blue screen, white text" mode.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
You could set up another windows profile with customized
display options and log in with that profile at the
beginning of an hours on end session ;-)
