Hello,
I have just upgraded to MS Word 2003 and every time I open
Word the "New Document" dialog box appears to the right of
the screen.
This is driving me nuts and I cannot find where to
configure Word in order to not load this "function" upon
initiation of Word. I have checked help and cannot locate
the answer...Does anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks much.

At the bottom of the task pane, there is a box that says "Show at
Startup". Uncheck the box, then close the task pane. Next time you
start Word, the task pane should be gone. But if you want to see it
again for some reason, click on View | Toolbars | Task Pane.

You need the task pane controller to ensure it stays away -

Graham, thank you. The site in the UK is down now:
http://www.bmsltd.co.uk/...I will try it later. This may
be the solution!

The Word task pane controller is at -
http://word.mvps.org/Downloads/TaskPaneController.exe
the link you quoted was for Excel.
