Problems with statring a New /Blank Document in Word 2003

When starting a new document in Word 2003, either by
clicking the New icon or through the menu File/New/Blank
Document, I get a blank document with unfamiliar
formatting (t.e. strange paper size, no margins etc).

The strange thing is that in Page Setup, the usual
settings are still there (e.g. correct paper size and
correct margins etc). But the display is totally
different. It also shows differently in Print Preview.

Please note that the Normal.dot template is correct i.e. I
start a 'normal' blank document with all my settings when
I double click on Normal.dot
Looks like Normal.Dot does not have any effect.

I have tried to change views of the document but nothing
changed.

Anybody with similar experience or solution.

Many Thanks
Don

Try tools > options > view > check 'white space between pages'. This setting
is easily invoked by clicking between 'paper' and ruler.
