is it possible to save a toolbar?  i spend a lot of time
customizing my toolbars, and hate to lose them every time
my computer crashes......

You can use the Save All command (this appears on the File menu if you press
Shift when you click on it, but you could also add a button for it to your
toolbar).  Do this immediately after making your customizations.

I would suggest that you create a template and save it in the Startup folder
(See Tools > Options > File Locations tab and note the folder listed for
Startup (normally the last one in the list) ). Then, open the said template,
modify all the toolbars you want, making sure that you select your template
name in the Customization dialog).  When you are done, save your template.
Now, whenever you start Word, your customizations will be there, if for some
reason you do not want them for a while, just move the template to another
folder, and bring it back when you want the customizations back.

This way you are not at the mercy of possible Normal.dot corruption, it is
easy to save the customizations and to move them to another computer or keep
them for a Word upgrade...

Merci beaucoup, Jean Guy.  I saved the template into the
Startup folder, but also onto my personal folder on our
network, which is where I will go looking for it next time
my computer dies, to copy to my new computer.
