In Word 2002, the default location is C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof.  The U.S.-English dictionary filename is
MSSP3EN.LEX.  You can search for this file on your computer to see where
it is located.

Amy,

You don't say why you wanted to know this location, but just in case
you were thinking of trying to modify it, you should know that it
isn't editable or even human-readable. The only mechanism for adding
words is the use of custom dictionaries, and the only mechanism for
removing words is the use of an exclusion dictionary
(http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/ExcludeWordFromDic.htm).
