Every Word system that I have seen will let you highlight
text and when the delete key is hit, the text is deleted.
In my system, when I hit the delete key, the status bar
goes away and it is replaced by a question that
asks: "Delete Block no/(Yes).  If I don't hit the "y" key,
the highlighted text will not delete.  How can I change
this setting?  Frustrated in Wisconsin.

On the General tab of Tools | Options, clear both check boxes that refer to
WordPerfect.
