Somehow, I did something which causes the pages opened from
the File Menu drop down list to show as full pages instead
of smaller boxes on top of open documents. I haven't been
able to figure out how to undo it. Does anybody know?

They're opening as Maximized instead of Restored (in a Normal window)? Do
you have Word set to run Maximized?

I'm not sure how to answer. Word shows the three boxes in
the upper right hand corner for minimize, restore down and
close. But I don't know if there's a settng somewhere that
controls a default option.

I usually run all pages in word, excel and browsers fully
maximized, but never had this problem before. By the way,
what ever I did, also effect Excel as well.

If you're running the program maximized, then naturally every document is
going to appear maximized, since each opens in its own window.

It's not the maximized document I'm questioning. It's the
Save As and the Open windows that you click on from the
File drop down menu that are maximized.

When you said "pages opened from the File menu," I assumed you meant the MRU
docs at the bottom of the menu. To restore the Save As and Open dialogs,
double-click on the title bar. Once restored, they can be resized with the
mouse like any other Normal window.

Thanks Susan. I knew it was something simple, but if you
don't know it, it might as well not exist. I hadn't been
able to track down that solution to resizing windows in
any help menu.

AFAIK, this behavior is undocumented. I learned about it here!
