I'm starting up a new computer.  I copied three Word
templates that I created on my previous computer to a
floppy.  I downloaded the files from the floppy to
c:/program files/Microsoft Office/Templates/1033.
However, when I try to create a new document using one of
these templates, the template is not listed.  Other
templates that were originally in the file are shown, but
not the new templates I added.

Despite the apparently appropriate name, that isn't (necessarily) the folder
where Word looks for its templates. Open the Tools > Options > File
Locations dialog in Word and look at the folder named as the User Templates
location -- that's where to put your templates. It's probably C:\Documents
and Settings\<your name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.
