Hi Cory,
When you look at the AutoCorrect dialog in Word, there are two radio buttons
labeled "Plain text" and "Formatted text". Each entry has one or the other.
Besides actual text with formatting, the "formatted text" includes any
entries that contain graphics (such as the company logo).
The plain text entries are available in all Office applications, but the
formatted text entries are available only in Word. Part of the reason for
this is that only Word knows how to render some of the formatting. Another
part is that unformatted entries are stored in files with an .acl extension
that are available to all Office applications, while the formatted ones are
stored in Word's Normal.dot template.
So tell your boss that you now know the answer, and if he wants to be mad at
someone, the target is Microsoft and not you.
