I have created a couple of customized Numbered lists and Ouline Numbered
lists from Format > Bullets and Numbering.  How can I save those to my
normal.dot and make sure they are not deleted if I accidentally hit reset?

You must associate them with styles. See

I did this, and all is working well. I even linked my
bullet and numbered style to my toolbar (so I can use the
buttons instead of formatting styles).

But something is still missing, the function to turn the
created list back to normal.

The standard button to make a bulleted list in word also
can make a list back to normal. How can I make this same
function working in my own button function?

I do not want to make this with vba (so no macro), is
this possible?

You can apply the Normal style using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N, or
you can add a toolbar button for that style as well.

He Suzanne,

Although I had a different solution in mind, this one
worked well.

Great!
Thanks
