Can I trigger the autotext in a doc from a db using mailmerge?

What do you mean by  "trigger the autotext"?

In any case, you can certainly insert autotext in a document with
automation.

You could insert an IF field to test for the contents of a merge field and
display an AutoText Entry depending on the merge field contents.
