Bullfighter (and others?)

I downloaded a Word add-in, Bullfighter (www.fightthebull.com), which I've
now discovered isn't recommended with Word 2003 because it wasn't tested.

Although the program worked, I was not enthused by it and so used the
removal tool to uninstal it. However, the Bullfighter toolbar remains. I can
hide it, but would prefer to remove it (if it's there who knows what else
it's doing!). The routine suggested by Microsoft, deleting the toolbar from
the list with Tools/Customise works whilst Word is open, but the Bullfighter
toolbar re-appears whenever Word is re-started.

I've tried searching for hidden files and registry entries, but without
success.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this or other ittitating toolbars?

Thanks in anticipation.

I have no idea what Bullfighter is (nor am I curious enough to
download unknown software), but things that add toolbars and commands
to Word are collectively called add-ins. There are several types. The
article at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm
explains how to locate them.

Once you find the add-in, simply delete the file. (You may have to
shut down Word, and Outlook too if you use Word as an email editor, to
release the file.)

Thanks Jay. The link didn't help solve the problem this time, but will be
useful in the future.

Some deeper digging on this site suggested deleting the Normal.dat file
which seems to have done the trick, though maybe not removed the toolbar
itself.

Many thanks.

Deleting Normal.dot was a terrible advice to make for that web site!
It'll loose most of your customizations, which may take weeks to redo if you used Word for some time.

"Tools > Templates and Add-ins > Organizer > Toolbars" would probably have been the place to delete that toolbar for good.
Though I consider it a bug in Word that "Tools > Customize" gives you the impression that it deletes toolbars, but doesn't.

Klaus
