Not really. Your problem description isn't ringing any bells. "move the
item"???

When asking a question, it will help us help you if you
   - mention the version of Word involved
   - post the EXACT message Word is showing you

Also... tell us the steps you're taking. There are a lot of ways to open
documents using Word -- tell us exactly what you're doing.

ok I highlite say 10 files in my documents
I rite-click and select open automatically a move items box opens[never seen
it before]stating:
select the place where you want to move [name of file/folder]. Then click
the move button.
It lists all folders in my computer if I select a spot to move it it still
opens the document but it also moves it, if I press cancel it just opens the
document. It does that for all the documents I want to open.
Thanks
Bruce

Are you trying to open these files from within the Open dialog box in Word,
or are you trying to open them from Windows Explorer? Or from something
else?

When I select files and right click, I don't have an Open Automatically
option. And if I try this from within Word's Open dialog box, it says it
can't because the dialog box is open.

I have a feeling that there's some key detail or step you're omitting.
