custom toolbar after mailmerge

I have a custom toolbar for macros from my addin.  After mailmerge, my
custom toolbar is only sometimes visible.  If visible, the macros no longer
"work", even though the addin itself is still installed.

So, the questions are:  (1) what's the trick to making a custom toolbar be
always-visible in the new document after a mail merge?  (2) how can I
maintain the connection to the addin from the custom toolbar?

TIA

What NG should I copy this question to, do you think?

Good question.  This one really does seem most appropriate.

Some questions, though:

What version of Word?

Did you create this add-in?  Are the macros all just VBA?  Is the add-in
just a Word template that does internal Word stuff, or is it from an
external program?

It really sounds like something is buggy with the add-in, as most custom
toolbars don't behave like that. I mean, I've recorded macros and attached
them to toolbar icons without problems, though I'm on a Mac.

If you are writing the add-in, I'd ask in a Word VBA group if it's all Word
macros, maybe or an Office developer group if it isn't just internal Word
activity.  If someone else wrote the add-in, I'd report it as a bug to them.

Hi, Daiya.

Word 2002.  I created the addin; macros are just VBA; internal Word stuff.
Thanks, Daiya, I appreciate your help.
