This is Acrobat 7 which uses a COM add-in in place of the global template
used in earlier versions.

Check the last part of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm and ensure that
the registry key exists and has a value of 3. If this doesn't fix it, you
need to consult with Adobe. This version of Acrobat has worse integration
with Word than any that has gone before and Adobe needs a good kick to get
it fixed.

Graham,
I should have mentioned that I am on Acrobat 6. I tried the all the
suggestions provided for 6 but still can't get the Adobe PDF menu or the
icons to display in Word. I have the PDFMaker.dot in the Office Startup
directory and when I check "templates & Add-ins" in Word it shows and is
check marked. I can create PDF's successfully by printing to the Adobe PDF
Printer, I'd just preferr to have the menu options and icons conveniently
available. Any other suggestions on what I can try to get them back?
Thanks, -Mark T.

Try putting PDFMaker.dot in the Word Startup directory instead.

Do you have the add-in update from Adobe that provides compatibility with
Word 2003?
Add-ins in the *Office* start-up folder are not subject to the option to
trust installed add-ins and templates (and if you have had other Word
versions installed in the past is it the correct Office startup folder).
Copying it to the Word startup folder may help, or you need to check that
Adobe is a trusted publisher in the macro security dialog.

Take a look at Help - About Microsoft Word - Disabled Items, and see if the
Adobe PDF stuff is listed there as disabled. If so, then try enabling and
see if that fixes things.
