How can I make the toolbar on my laptop look exactly like the one on my
desktop without manually customizing it?  Is there a file I can copy (like
normal.dot)?

By default, both custom toolbars and toolbar customizations are stored in
Normal.dot. See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/FilesToBackup.htm and

I found normal.dot and emailed it to my laptop, but it won't let me save over
the normal.dot that's already there.

Are you trying to do this with Word open? You must close Word (and possibly
reboot Windows) in order to access Normal.dot.

That was the problem (sort of).  Word is my editor in Outlook, so I had it
open without realizing it.  Thanks.

This will probably be difficult unless you set them up with transfer in
mind. See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.
