More than one of us are adding buttons onto toolbars.  The buttons are there
for the day, but when we open word the next day, the buttons are gone again.

Yes we do have Acrobat 7, one professional and one standard.

One machine is a fresh load and the other has been up and running for months
(didn't create buttons until recently)

Acrobat 7 prevents Word from saving normal.dot - see

I went to your link, went down to the Version 7 acrobat section, and tried to
do the Shift --Save All.  I have save and save as only.  I'm using 2003.

Duh...found the Save all... I'll let you know how it works.

Okay, here's what has happened.

We did the Save All.  The buttons that were added to current toolbars didn't
stay.

We created a new custom toolbar and a new menu.  Did the Save All.  The menu
didn't survive.  The new toolbar did.

We're also having a problem that it's not keeping the customized keystrokes
for special characters.  We tried adding the special characters to the
toolbar, but no go.

More ideas?

You can try putting your customizations in a separate global template. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.
