I've got Office XP on XP Home SP 1.  I have fiddled and mangled my
Normal dot.  I don't want to delete it, because there's some good
macros in it.  So I renamed it OLDnormal.dot.

I restarted Word.  But I'm still getting the Normal dot with all the
messesd up styles in it.

I want a Normal.dot with the built-in styles.

QUESTION:  How do I get back the original Normal.dot with the default
styles that came with Word XP when I first installed it?

Thanks.

Are you sure you renamed the correct file? Check Tools - Options - File
Locations, User Templates. That's where normal.dot is stored. It might be
hidden.
