Vertical ruler display

Hi, I have a problem with the ruler display.  Word used to display the
vertical ruler with the page margins on it as shown in the photo here:

However now it doesn't display the vertial margins, it lets me type from
the very top of the page, yet the ruler says the page is only 25cm high and
when I print the margins are there - here's a picture of what I mean:

Any ideas anyone? Thanks!
