For some reason, I no longer seem to be able to insert a header or footer
in my Word documents. I had installed nuance PDF converter version 3--
since removed -- but still the only menu items under, insert -- autotext --
header/footer is --convert to PDF, and convert to PDF and e-mail. I can't
seem to remove these items from the menu and restore my header/footer
capabilities. From dealing with nuance in the past, I know it's useless to
try to get their technical assistance to help with this. Likewise their
knowledge base and web site didn't help.
Thank you in advance for any help with this menu/toolbar item problem. I am
running Windows XP media edition and Word 2000 on a new Dell Intel D-840
computer.

It sounds like the add-in has written to normal.dot - rename normal.dot to
oldnormal.dot then use the organizer to copy any preferences you want to
keep from old to new. Check that the add-in has gone too -

Thanks. Your info really helped. It turned out that in "COM add-ins" that
it was Omnipage 15 that was the culprit. Unchecking the box took care of
the problem.
Thanks again-I've now got my menues back!
