Customised toolbars and macros I created have gone. Have checked with IT dept
and they've not 'done' anything. How can I get them back? If I can't and have
to recreate them, how can I stop this happening again?

Toolbar customizations and macros are by default saved in Normal.dot. Have
you deleted or renamed Normal.dot?

No I haven't. Nor have the IT dept rolled out a new one (as they are want to
do on occasion). Also, and rather oddly, a string of text is now appearing
automatically when I open an email but I haven't changed my signature.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat Version 7 installed?
How long had these been on your system?

One way you can protect yourself is by building/moving your customizations
to another template. See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for
step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up
customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments,
toolbars, macros, etc.

See my response to your separate post on toolbar positions.

"Network won't let me or I'm doing it wrong"

What won't it let you do? What, exactly isn't working? What have you tried?
