Hi Pavel,
A WLL is an old-style Add-in, written in old WordBasic and developed in the C++
environment. So, some tool has been installed on your system, and it's not able to
function correctly, for some reason (apparently, it can't add a menu item).
Probably, this WLL file is stored in Word's STARTUP folder. If you don't know where that
is on your machine, look in Tools/Options/File locations. Go to this folder, using
Windows Explorer (with Word NOT running) and move that file to a different folder. Now
try starting Word and see if the problem goes away...

Thank you, Cindy.
My OS is Windows2000. I tried to rename the
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft
folder (it contained Word\STARTUP and Template folders, as indicated in
Word's "Tools/Options/File locations")
and the
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft
folder,
but all errors survived!
Thus, I could not find out the location of that malicious WLL startup file...
So, the problem has not been solved yet.

try searching your driver for all files ending in *.wll?

It was the first thing I tried to do: I found wrdemo.wll and renamed it to
wrdemo#.wll . But nothing changed.
A minute ago I found that file again and renamed it to wrdemo#.wl .
And... the errors disappeared!!
This means, the OS loaded the file because of its extension and location,
not just name.
Thank you very much!

Hi Pavel,
FWIW, WRDemo.wll is part of the Evaluation copy of
the 'Recovery for Word' program from
http://www.officerecovery.com/word/index.htm
You may want to use Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel to uninstall the demo package as well.

Right you are, Bob.
However,
1. Somehow the 'Recovery for Word' is not registered on the 'Add/Remove
Programs' list of Control Panel;
2. I believe that 'Recovery for Word' can help one day in case of Word's
abnormal termination, as already happened.
Thanks,
Pavel
