It is possible that you simply have a menu item - in which case you can
press and hold Alt and click and drag the icon until the mouse pointer
includes an 'X' and then drop and let go of Alt.
More likely you have an AddIn that runs every time you start Word and which
the uninstall should have deleted.
Go to Tools > Options > File Locations tab and check the location of your
Startup Folder - by default it will be (Documents and
Settings\userid)\Application Data\Microsoft\Office10\Word\STARTUP. Go to
this folder (it is hidden so you will need to enable the view of hidden
folders) and delete what looks like an ACT file. You may have several files
in this folder if you have any other AddIns and if you can't identify the
right one to delete use trial and error and CAUTION!
You may instead - or also - find you have a remnant of this program in what
some call the 'Office Startup Folder' - this is at (installation
root)\Office10\STARTUP where installation root is by default (Program
Files)\Microsoft Office. If there is anything (from ACT) in this folder,
delete it also.
If none of that works then you may have a COM AddIn. Come back if that's the
case.

Thanks for the quick reply, Tony.
The ALT drag option fixed it.
If only everything in life was that easy.
