I've got XP Home and XP Office.
In Word, the page is about 6 inches in breadth max. How can I extend it as
far as possible, double or treble, so life becomes easier when I am
tabulating info.
TIA
The 6" default page width comes from using the default 1.25" left and right
margins on 8.5" US Letter paper. You can reduce the margins to get up to
8.5" line length (though Word will warn you about unprintable area). If you
select Legal paper size and Landscape orientation, you can get up to 14".
The maximum page width and length in Word is 22", but to get this you have
to select a printer driver that supports this paper size. For what you are
doing, you should be using Excel.

Thanks for your response. Useful. How can I go to above 14". Excel is not
appropriate for my work, and I do not need to print it.

I tried going to Legal and Landscape. I can get to only 91/2". How can I get
to 14"?

By setting your left and right margins to 0". If you don't need to print
your work, I assure you that Excel will be more satisfactory. It's
especially useful in creating large tables because you can use Freeze Panes
to keep the headings and stubs in view as you scroll down and across the
table.
