We're creating custom Styles, Toolbars and Macros (mostly simple recorded
ones) for a new rollout. I had a template in my Word Startup folder called
"Rollout.dot" which I was keeping all the pretty toolbars and "nifty" macros
(in a module under that document called RO2003).
So over the holiday weekend I thought I'd mail home the .dot and do some
tweaking, I'm such a company sot. When I open the Organizer to transfer the
styles, they were there, however the Toolbars and Macro Module are not. When
I specifically open the template I don't get the Toolbars and from the Macro
dialog there is nothing there!
I've been successfully using that file and the Organizer (which means I had
to specifically open that file) to transfer those things to a co-workers
rollout.dot so she could test, find any mistakes for me and provide feedback.
It's been working great.
What happened?! It'll be nice to enjoy the 4th, but I'm such a Scotty
sometimes.

The default save location for macros and toolbars is Normal.dot. Unless you
specifically set the save location (what is technically called the
"customization context") to your template, they are in the Normal.dot global
template on your work computer.

Suzanne~
Goodness, go have a weekend!
They *are* specifically saved in the "rollout.dot". Whenever I make a
changes to the toolbar, add/removing or changing images when I close word it
prompts me to save the rollout.dot, if I don't during that session no prompt.
I use the Organizer and have to intentionally open "rollout.dot" to xfer the
files to my co-worker. As for the "normal.dot" I delete that on a regular
basis because of testing, yet the toolbars and macros remain. So I know they
are not in there.
Yet, I mailed "rollout.dot" home and they only the styles exist.

In that case, I wonder if the problem might be in the users' Security
Options. This is really a long shot because even if they have Macro Security
set to High, the macros would still be allowed if the template is saved in
the user templates folder and they have "Trust all installed templates and
add-ins" checked, and I can't see how the security setting could possibly
affect toolbars. So I'm stumped.

Suzanne~
I've tried with the settings set to low on both systems. Same thing, and I
can see how the macros might effected, but the TOOLBARS?!

I agree that there's no way this could affect toolbars. As I said, I'm
stumped.

Sorry, I wasn't there, so I haven't a clue as to what happened. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.
