It appears that the Align Left is simply not there on the Formatting toolbar.
The Align Right, Center and Justify buttons are there however. I've searched
through all of the toolbars, the toolbar options, and the Add/Remove buttons
menu and it is not in any of these. Might anyone know why it is not there
and/or how it can be restored?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have your toolbars displayed on two rows? If not, you need to expand
the toolbar to show all the buttons. If it's really missing, put it back
using Tools | Customize; see
