How do I keep Word 2003 from messing about witt the order of my menu
icons. It completly rearranges them just because another application
added a extra menu bar (and when I remove that they still are messed
up). I have my icons in an order beacuse I am used to that. It's a
headache each time this happends. Where is the order stored (the
"normal.dot" file is not changed, so the ordering is not in there)?

I assume we're talking about controls on the toolbars. Are the
controls (the buttons) on individual toolbars being moved around? Or
are toolbars being moved around?

Is it possible that this other application also re-arranged things? If
it did, the changes were probably saved.

Toolbar settings are controlled from the Registry. There's a
"Toolbars" key in HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Office/11.0/Word/Data

Hi Lars-Erik,

It is possible that the add-in will do its thing as far as toolbar arrangement but you may want to check the setting in
 Tools=>Customize=>Options=>Always Show Full menus
to keep Word from trying to 'learn' what commands you use most and move them.
